Shock Rebuild Services at Toytec Lifts

About Our Shock Service

At Toytec Lifts, our in-house shock rebuild department services all major brands, including Toytec, King, Icon, Radflo, Dobinson, Sway-A-Way, Fox, ProComp, Dirt Logic, Walker Evans, and more. If your brand isn't listed, give us a call—we've got you covered!

Do I Need to Service My Shocks If They Aren't Leaking?

Yes! Most aftermarket race-style shocks need servicing every 20,000–25,000 miles, depending on use—even if they aren't leaking. Over time, shocks can lose pressure, overheat beyond the oil's rating, or experience performance loss, leading to uneven tire wear and a rougher ride.

Unlike a flat tire, worn shocks don't fail overnight. The decline is gradual, and your body naturally adapts, making it easy to overlook the loss in ride quality. Regular servicing not only protects your investment but also keeps your shocks performing like new. A rebuild typically costs half the price of a new set and restores that fresh-out-of-the-box feel.

Timely maintenance helps keep rebuild costs low and prevents excessive wear on hard parts like bearings, misalignment spacers, and shafts. Stay ahead of the wear—schedule your shock service today!

We specialize in servicing:

  • Coilovers
  • Bump stops
  • IFP shocks
  • Remote reservoir shocks
  • Internal & external bypass shocks

We ensure your suspension performs at its best.

What's Included in a Standard Rebuild?

Our standard rebuild includes:

  • Coil Spring Removal & Cleaning – Your shock is thoroughly cleaned before disassembly.
  • Complete Tear-Down & Inspection – We inspect all internal and external components for damage.
  • Replacement of Worn/Damaged Parts – Any necessary parts are replaced to ensure optimal performance.
  • New Seals & Fresh Oil – All seals are replaced, and the shock is refilled with high-quality oil.
  • Proper Pressurization – The shock is recharged to the manufacturer's recommended pressure for peak performance.

This process ensures your shocks perform like new and last longer on and off the road!

Leak-Down Testing

For all mail-in and carry-in shocks, we conduct a 24-hour leak-down test after the rebuild to ensure there are no issues before returning them to you. We highly recommend this test for drive-in full-service customers as well. However, we understand that not everyone can be without their vehicle for an extra day.

Important: If you choose to waive the leak-down test, your shocks will not be covered under our warranty.

If you suspect a leak, don't hesitate to reach out—we're here to help!

Pricing

Pricing varies based on the brand and size of your shock or bump stop—the smaller the shock, the lower the cost. A standard rebuild typically ranges from $160 to $270 per shock.

If hard parts such as rod ends, shafts, preload collars, etc. need replacement, they will incur an additional charge.

How to Tell if Your Shock Has a Leak After a Rebuild

It's important to distinguish between normal seepage and an actual leak in aftermarket race-style coilovers. Here's what to look for:

  • Normal Seepage: A small amount of oil around the shaft or near the wiper cap is typically not a concern. This can happen if oil was trapped between the seal head and wiper cap during reassembly. We thoroughly clean each shock after service, but minor residual oil may sometimes be present.
  • Leak: If you notice an excessive amount of oil or a noticeable spot forming on your driveway, this indicates a problem that needs to be addressed.

Shock Rebuild Warranty

We stand behind our work! All shock rebuilds come with a 6-month warranty. Our warranty covers defects due to workmanship and part quality. It does not cover the cost of removing and reinstalling the shock. However, there are two situations where your shocks and rebuilding will not be covered under warranty:

  • Recommended Repairs Declined – If, during the rebuild process, we identify damaged components such as pitted shafts or other parts that could compromise the seals, and you choose not to replace them, the warranty will not apply.
  • Excessive Use or Abuse – If the shock is broken or snapped due to excessive use, impact, or abuse, it will not be covered.

If your shock is leaking due to a faulty seal or an error during the rebuild process, we will rebuild the shock at no charge for the duration of the warranty. Our warranty does not cover the cost of removing and reinstalling the shock.

Warranty Claim Process

If you believe your shock has a warranty-related issue, please email our Shock Rebuild Warranty Department at sales@toyteclifts.com with the following details:

  • A description of when you first noticed the issue or any change in performance.
  • Any photos showing the problem.
  • Any additional relevant information that may help us assess the issue.

Providing this information will help us resolve your claim quickly and efficiently. We appreciate your business and are committed to ensuring your shocks perform as expected!
