increase engine performance

When the time comes to pack up your gear and head off-road, you'll want ways to achieve peak engine performance to enjoy the ride. Once you begin an ascent, blaze sharply off the pavement, or excitedly approach the tree line, you'll be thinking of the various means to get the most out of your vehicle.

Here are a few of the best ways to maximize your engine performance in any environment

Cold Air Intakes

A cold air intake can break down detrimental clogs and allows your truck or SUV to have more of an optimal “breathing rate”. Cold air's dense characteristics have the ability to generate purer power, which means you'll get more horsepower for your journey. An aftermarket cold air intake can usually prevent the need for a box to encompass the air filter, offering much smoother intake tubes to take its place.

Superchargers/Turbochargers

The turbocharger performs the task of forcing more air into the chamber for each intake stroke, which results in more efficient combustion. Two ingeniously-positioned blades pull in outside air and condense it within the housing, which increases the all-desired power factor from the engine. A supercharger also pumps additional air into the engine, but it is driven via a belt instead of two blades, powered by its own motor or the crankshaft.

Exhaust Headers

Exhaust headers are popular among many of our die hard off-roading friends and family here at Toytec lifts because they bolt on easily while improving your engine performance drastically. Since engines need to push exhaust out of the cylinders to function optimally, they increase horsepower by eliminating back pressure from the manifold. The individual pipes are cut and bent expertly so that they are situated at identical lengths, spacing out each cylinder's exhaust gases equally to accomplish the back pressure's removal.

Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are a necessary component for any engine, but when their lifetime nears an end, a fresh install provides you the best performance for your vehicle. Spark plugs fire at about 25 times a second during a standard-paced drive, and even more during a steep off-road hill ascent! When they start to misfire after aging, you'll notice a rapid stutter in performance when you hit the gas, and after a fresh set, you'll be hopping off the line with no problems.

All four of these items are going to hone right in where they are needed most and kick your engine into high gear. Browse our engine performance selection at Toytec Lifts, and you'll be able to confidently cut through canyons and enjoy your truck's peak level of performance.
